What started as a small project in the informal settlement of KwaMabuza, outside Ermelo, has evolved into a beacon of hope for local youth who once had no opportunities in the film industry.
The series follows the journey of a young woman unknowingly marked with spiritual protection as she unravels the dark forces threatening her life and those around her. Packed with supernatural intrigue, suspense, and a battle between good and evil, The Chosen Soul promises to be a gripping must-watch. But beyond its thrilling storyline, this production carries a much deeper purpose – to uplift and empower young people from underprivileged backgrounds.
The Official Launch: A Night to Remember
The official physical launch of The Chosen Soul will take place on Saturday, 29 March 2025, at KwaMabuza, Ermelo Ext 50, from 4:00 PM. Attendees will be treated to an exclusive big-screen viewing of the first two episodes before they go live on YouTube later that night at 21:00 South African time.
Tickets for this highly anticipated event will be available from Monday, 17 March 2025, at Khanyisa Offices / KwaShashe at R25 each and R40 for a couple. Residents and fans are encouraged to secure their seats early, as demand is expected to be high. The Teaser TRAILER has already reached 22,000 views on Facebook and growing only a few days after it was posted.
An additional launch event is planned for early April 2025 in Ermelo Town, where local entrepreneurs, production houses, and media personnel will be invited to witness the impact of this groundbreaking series and explore ways to support the initiative.

What makes The Chosen Soul truly special is its cast – all the actors come from KwaMabuza’s informal settlement, a community that has long struggled with unemployment and a lack of resources. Recognizing their hard work and dedication, Sifiso Nkosi has been elevated to Assistant Producer, while Nothando Nkosi has stepped up as Assistant Director while Siboniso Nkosi is learning the ropes in video editing – a major achievement for young individuals with no prior experience in professional filmmaking.
